“But law came in, with the result that the trespass multiplied; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, just as sin exercised dominion in death, so grace might also exercise dominion through justification leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” – Romans 5:20-21

The state of California is proposing a Constitutional amendment that is beyond what most civil or compassionate people can abide. The law is about making abortion legal through the 9th month of pregnancy. I have a friend whose little grandbaby is fighting for her life, born at 28 weeks gestation. That little girl’s mother wants her tiny little girl to live. If you don’t want a baby at 28 weeks’ gestation to live, you can go to California and kill that child. I cannot describe how depressing this is to me on many levels. I’m sure that’s true of lots of people.

So, in keeping with my new policy that I stated in my last blog entry, let us pray for the legislators of California, the governor of California, and most importantly, for the voters of the state to vote against this amendment. If I correctly understand the way this works, it takes 67% of the voters on election day voting “yes” to pass this proposal into law.

Let us pray and fast that the grace and wisdom of Jesus will touch the hearts and minds of the people of California. That’s part of our prayer and fasting for the conversion of sinners. Not because we want the laws to defend life, well, not just that. But also because we are concerned about the salvation of souls. And, once again, we pray for our own ongoing conversion. Bring us closer to you, Lord, every day. Bring us into your Sacred Heart. For the Kingdom, power, and glory are Yours.

I posted the Scripture quote from the Letter to the Romans above as a reminder to myself and anyone who reads this. Grace, a participation in the Divine Life, a Heavenly gift from above, is greater than the sin we see in our world. It’s what we don’t always see, though often times, the grace of God is obvious but we don’t realize that’s what we’re witnessing or experiencing. I posted the article below to make you aware of what’s going on in California.
