I haven’t written anything in a while because my son and his wife had a baby last Wednesday and that sort of took all of my time and energy. Prior to that blessed event, I was with my daughter’s family. They live across the entire country from me. That also took a lot of time and energy! But today, before I close my eyes for some much needed rest, I wanted to share some thoughts about this day before it ends.
Today, the 2nd Sunday of Easter, is also known as Divine Mercy Sunday. The mercy of our Lord is what we cling to and is where our hope comes from as Christians. The Resurrection of Jesus means we can look forward to our resurrection. His dying for our sins to redeem us from our sins, to save us from ourselves, means that our everlasting life can be with God forever.
Only our own willful decision to turn away from God can change our glorious futures. Isn’t that amazing? As it says in Psalm 23, “surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Yes, it’s that simple, if we choose Christ, choose to love.
The Divine Mercy is why Jesus died for us and why He rose again. That’s how much God loves us, each and every one of us. Again I say, that’s where our hope comes from. Amen?
