Some US reps in Congress and other Veterans of Afghanistan specifically have been trying to get Afghans who worked with the US out of that country. US State Department has been less than helpful, it sounds like. I am praying for all concerned. And God bless the #MilVets in Congress who are trying to help those we’ve abandoned. Yes, abandoned. There was obviously another way to handle this because this situation has been such an inept fiasco and really shameful. I am beyond frustrated and disappointed to the depths of my heart. The US is better than this. And I am so very sorrowful for the situation too many find themselves in at this point because of our feckless administration. I have never posted about political concerns directly in all my years on this forum. But some things are too egregious to ignore. I am not okay with what’s occurred and no US citizen should be. There has been no official public contrition from any leaders in our federal government, nor has there been at least an acknowledgment of egregious errors in judgment. There are no words of comfort for Veterans or the families of the fallen or the wounded Vets and their families. Scenes of mothers passing babies to be thrown over razor wire at the airport in a desperate attempt to save them will haunt me from now on. Scenes of bodies falling from our airplanes as they take off will, as well. Lord, have mercy. Please join me in prayer for the people of Afghanistan and for our Military – the rank and file, for their safety, physical and spiritual, and our senior leaders, for some compassion and wisdom and maybe a little humility and integrity. I’d really like to see some resignations at the highest levels, honestly. I’m done with my rant now, but not with my prayers and sadness. Those will continue for a very long time.

Amen Lyn! I’m sharing this.
