Today is the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. He appeared to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in 17th Century France. His was a message of mercy, that Jesus’ heart was burning with love for humanity. He asked Margaret Mary to help people understand what a deep and personal love He had for each of us. He invited believers to Adoration. He asked people to come to receive the Blessed Sacrament more often, and for acts of reparation for offenses against His Sacred Heart and for neglect of His Precious Body and Blood in the Eucharist. It was a tall order for this young woman. But she did not hesitate and she did not falter in her mission.

When we realize how Jesus loves us, we can only desire to love Him in return. It can never equal His love for us, but we can spend our lives trying.

I was reading a prayer book someone sent me today and found this wonderful Litany which I was reading when the song below started to play on Pandora. It’s a song I don’t recall ever hearing before but it is perfect for this Feast Day. “Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You.”
