With everything going on in our country right now, I think we all know that there are varying levels of anxiety for many. But followers of Jesus Christ can remain at peace knowing that God is in control. It doesn’t matter who is in the White House because we know Who sits on the Throne of Heaven. Let’s just continue to follow God’s will and to love everyone as He loves us. Christians need to be the Peacemakers that Jesus expects us to be. We should be joyful, not anxious. We must look different from the non-believer. How else do we attract anyone else to Jesus? Prayer matters but so do our actions.
I pray we act as the people of hope that we are, hope in what’s to come because of what’s within us – the Holy Spirit which is exactly where we get our peace, as well as the ability to love our neighbors – even those we disagree with or who are ignorant of the Lord and belittle us or worse. Sorry to be preachy but I think we need to remember that things of this world are transient. They pass away and always have. And always will. If we are not about the world to come, we will be overwrought and unhappy. Who needs that? I don’t believe things are all that bad anyway. It’s a matter of perspective, I guess. Is yours a heavenly perspective? Or an earthly one?
See Romans 8:35-39 for some real words of encouragement! With that I will leave you with this wonderful song by Audrey Assad: “It is well with my soul.” It really is! I pray that is true for you, too! Peace be with you.
