“There Was Jesus”

So, first of all, I have to say that Dolly Parton is an amazing performer who sounds just like she did 30 years ago. She adds so much to the song, There Was Jesus, by Zach Williams. Give a listen if you haven’t heard it yet. I love it!

Zach said that this song is about how, though he did not realize it at the time, Jesus was with him through all of his struggles and joys in his life. It’s true and I was just sharing this with a friend yesterday. She is going through some very tough relationship challenges right now and is angry with God and hurt by the person with whom she’s been involved.

God knows. He knows our pain and our sorrow. He knows our struggles and our fears. And there was Jesus, through it all! Don’t ever think you are all alone because you NEVER are. And don’t ever wonder why no one loves you because Someone always does. The God of all creation loves you immeasurably and you are the apple of God’s eye! He will never leave your or forsake you.

Ask for God’s grace to fill you up. Surrender to God’s loving touch. It will overwhelm you and make everything start to make sense. I suggest reading a little of the Gospel of John for starters, if you don’t know Jesus or God’s love for you. And I’m here if you have any questions. I’m praying for you. I pray for all who are lost and all who are searching. I pray for all who are trying to find the good, that they will find it, because that will lead them to God. I pray that someone will be Jesus for the injured souls, the broken hearted, the defeated and the frustrated to points I cannot comprehend. You are loved! You are a child of God. A son or daughter of the King! It does NOT get any better than that.

Peace and joy and love are before you. Jesus is as close as your next breath. Just breathe in the Holy Spirit and let go of what control you think you have. Let the One who is love give you that peace that surpasses all understanding, that joy that is not dependent on external fleeting happiness, that love that is limitless.

Through it all, there was Jesus. And there IS Jesus!
