The video below begins with a beautiful blessing from the Book of Numbers (6:24-26). It’s a favorite Old Testament Scripture passage.
It’s some of the last words I ever uttered in an ‘official Army wife’ speech. It was my husband’s retirement luncheon and I was pleased to be given an opportunity to share my thanks. I explained to everyone present that for years I have ended notes, letters, emails, and such with the closing words, “Blessings & Thanks.” I told them that the following was the blessing I was expressing and went on to quote those verses from Numbers.
It was my blessing to all who were present there that day and for all our Army family around the world.
So imagine my joy and surprise when I heard this song in my car the other day! The rest of the song is equally amazing, from various parts of Scripture, both Old and New Testaments or is inspired by them. It is a bit long/repetitive. But if you are in the midst of praising God for His glory and majesty, for His love and mercy, it can be quite moving. And you almost don’t want it to end.
So, please listen to the song and participate in it when you have the time to really take it in and engage in worship with the music. It is not just for listening. It is for praying in song.
I loved my years with the Army, not because every moment was fun, but because every moment God was with me. I knew I was being given opportunities to be of service to Him directly or through my time dedicated to helping and supporting others.
Of course I wanted everyone to know that and to be as grateful for God’s presence, sustaining us all. And so I prayed blessings upon them at the end of my missives.
God bless you all…
