If you’re following my blog, you know that I love me some contemporary Christian music. And below is my latest favorite song by Francesca Battistelli. First of all, I just love her name! But that has nothing to do with the song. It’s about letting God be the Lord of our lives and finding that His is the better way.

She praises, she worships, she bows down, she is still. And then God does amazing things in her life. That can be true for all of us. God will fight our wars and bring us back the “head of our enemies.” That’s total victory. In fact, Jesus did that for us when He suffered and died on the cross. It was when He rose from the dead and later ascended to the place at the right hand of His Father that the Victory was definitively won. He went to prepare a place for us! All we need to do is surrender to our Great Defender. Let Him lead the way. If we follow behind the One who is the strongest, the wisest, the most loving, and the most merciful, and all good, we have nothing to fear.

But we must depend on the One who is capable of making all things new, including us, to make it through this life to join Him totally in the next. He’s with us now and that is good. But in Heaven, our true Home, it will be so much better that we cannot even begin to contemplate it.

Listen to the words and just the sound of this song. Try to be still and know that God is with you and that we have no need to fear. He brings all to Himself if we just let Him. The pieces of our lives get picked up and put back together, yes. We can’t do it alone, we can’t do it ourselves. Everything makes sense, has meaning, only in the context of God’s love for each of us and for all of His Creation. Be still, praise, worship, bow down.
